Which gloves are best for me? This is probably the most commonly asked question by our customers. Unfortunately, there is no cookie cutter answer. Several factors must be taken into consideration to determine which gloves will best suit your needs.

What is your budget? Boxing and Muay Thai style gloves can range from twenty dollars, to hundreds of dollars per pair. While we would never recommend a twenty dollar pair of gloves, we understand that premium gloves are not for everyone. If you only plan on hitting the bag at a globo gym once or twice a week, a pair of fifty dollar synthetic gloves may suffice. However, for those that intend to train on a regular basis, you would be best investing in a pair of quality gloves. Seriously, your hands and training partners will thank you.

What does your training entail? If you are working clinching techniques, you may prefer a pair of Thai style gloves, as they have shorter cuffs and allow for more wrist mobility. If your training mostly consists of boxing techniques, you may prefer the added wrist support and natural hand closure of traditional boxing gloves.

Do you spar on a regular basis? If so, your gym will most likely require 14oz -16oz gloves. For those that spar regularly, we recommend choosing a pair of gloves that have extra padding covering the knuckles. This will make training safer for you and your partner. (Twins Special, Top King, Booster, and King Pro are known for their heavily padded gloves.)

Lastly, do you have a style preference? Some brands offer more eccentric designs, colors and patterns, while others provide a more traditional look. If you love your gear, you're more likely to use it.

While there are many other factors to consider, we hope this at least points you in the right direction. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to shoot us a message. We will be happy to assist you in anyway possible.
